Valtronic, an electronic contract manufacturer and development partner for medical devices, is pleased to announce that it added two engineers, Karen Sylvester and Umair Ahmad, to its quality team. The additions are part of a wave of engineering hires over the past year to provide increased support for customers.

Karen is responsible for supporting program management and engineering with customer interface, and facilitating or leading nonconforming product investigations, including corrective/preventive actions and product remedial actions.

Previously, Karen was employed with Qure Medical as a quality engineer where she was responsible for the entire CAPA program (evaluations, investigation, and closure), managing the nonconforming product program and training, as well as acting as the quality representative during customer audits. Prior to Qure Medical, Karen was with Pressco Technology of Solon, Swagelok, and Invacare Corporation. Karen graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Umair will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality process, ensuring current processes are followed as well as reducing failure and costs. He works directly with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers, driving quality improvement through all facets of the company.

Previously, Umair was employed with Rockwell Automation as a quality assurance engineer in which he was responsible for analyzing the quality information system data to identify trends and problem areas requiring corrective action. Prior to Rockwell, Umair was with Philips Healthcare as a system verification engineer. Umair graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Both Umair and Karen report to Don Wallace, quality director, who stated, “Valtronic’s continued growth and emphasis on the medical device market has developed to a point where an additional level of quality engineers is needed. Umair and Karen provide significant experience on both the contract manufacturing and OEM side of the business and will be tremendous assets to the team.”
